90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way star Deavan Clegg has shared some important news about her and Jihoon Lee’s son Taeyang Lee with fans. Deavan is a 27-year-old woman from Utah who was first seen in season 1 of the spin-off in 2019 with her South Korean boyfriend, Jihoon. Deavan and Jihoon, 35, had met on a dating app and talked daily for three months. They got married during Deavan’s first visit to South Korea on the show. It was clear from the start that Deavan and Jihoon’s relationship was not going to work out.

Jihoon was not able to keep a job and did not know how to manage his finances. Deavan made no attempts to learn about Jihoon’s culture. She couldn’t adjust to her new life in South Korea and argued with her in-laws. Deavan and Jihoon also faced a major language barrier. They were one of the few 90 Day Fiancé couples who used a translator device, leading to severe miscommunication issues. As expected, Deavan and Jihoon’s relationship came to an end even before their The Other Way season 2 had ended.

Deavan Was Seven Months Pregnant With Jihoon’s Baby

Deavan was a 24-year-old single mom to three-year-old “wild child” Drascilla in season 1. She was planning to move to South Korea to be with Jihoon, who she had been together with for eight months. However, Deavan and Jihoon had only spent three and a half weeks together in person. Jihoon had flown to the U.S. to meet Deavan three months after super-liking her on a dating app. They spent their first night together at a “lovey hotel” where they had a good time after having some wine. Deavan did not feel good the day Jihoon was leaving for Korea.

Deavan took the pregnancy test, and it instantly showed her two lines, which meant the result was positive. Jihoon did not believe Deavan. Deavan’s Son Was Diagnosed With Childhood Cancer In 2022

Taeyang Had B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

In May 2022, Deavan shared the devastating news about her son being diagnosed with cancer. Deavan revealed that Taeyang had just celebrated his third birthday when they learned that he had b-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Deavan revealed that Taeyang had also undergone multiple procedures and had started chemotherapy. She was pregnant at the time and trying to stay strong for all three of her children. Deavan described the moment as the “most vulnerable and saddest point” of her life. She assured her fans that it was a two-year process with a chance of full recovery in five years.

Deavan kept sharing updates about Taeyang’s health with her Instagram followers over the last two years. In November 2022, Taeyang had a health scare where he was rushed to the emergency room because of having a high fever. Deavan said that the situation could be deadly for children going through chemotherapy. Taeyang also needed an emergency blood transfusion. Deavan was scared that a small cold that didn’t even affect her newborn was the same cold that sent Taeyang to the hospital. Deavan Announced The Happy News On Instagram

Deavan finally had good news to share about her son in August 2024. Deavan made an Instagram post where she shared, “Taeyang is now cancer-free!” after a grueling two years and three months. She spoke about how the journey had been full of challenges and triumphs and that she had gained a “wealth of knowledge and gratitude” throughout it all. Deavan posted a video of the five-year-old Taeyang surrounded by nurses at a hospital singing, “No More Chemo.” Deavan admired her son for his resilience and bravery. She exclaimed that he was the strongest person she knew.

“I am immensely grateful to all of you who have supported us during this difficult time – your love and encouragement have been our rock.”

Deavan also dedicated a special thank you note to the doctors and nurses who, apart from providing exceptional care to her son, also became like family to them. She thanked Make-A-Wish for their contribution to Taeyang’s journey. Taeyang had got to hang his star at the Make-A-Wish Tower in May 2024. Deavan was also full of gratitude to Topher for everything in his power to make sure both Taeyang and Deavan got the proper care, thus, confirming that they were still together.

Jihoon’s not shared any messages for Taeyang publicly on Instagram. His last post was in July 2023 where Jihoon had clicked a picture of his passport photo. The blogger mentioned that the 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way cast member was in a relationship with a woman named Elisa Lee from Norway. The woman in the photos shared by the blogger looked eerily similar to Deavan. The blogger mentioned that Jihoon and Elisa’s relationship seemed “pretty serious” and he was flying to meet her in Norway soon.
