An update is needed on 90 Day Fiancé spin-off Love in Paradise: The Caribbean couple Carlos Jiménez and De Juan “VaLentine,” who appeared in seasons 2 and 3. Season 2 concluded in August 2022, and some may be wondering what happened to Carlos and VaLentine after filming. VaLentine, who lives in Los Angeles, met Carlos, who is from Colombia, on social media. They got to know each other just before the COVID-19 pandemic struck in early 2020. VaLentine also marked the finale episode by sharing the song he serenaded Carlos with, and a music video clip. “I dedicated this song, “Adore You” to my First True Love..CARLOS,” 90DF star VaLentine expressed, and continued, “Thank you [Carlos] for loving me and Inspiring me to write this song even from miles away in another country.” The video has since been taken down, hinting that Carlos deleting his post about their engagement has another explanation.

While Carlos and VaLentine weren’t the only Love in Paradise season 2 couple to end the show together, their relationship seems to be one of the few that was genuine, and perhaps the most authentic of all.

For example, New York-based Daniele Gates and her Dominican partner Yohan Geronimo were seen participating in a marriage ceremony, but their union didn’t last. VaLentine and Carlos went on to appear in 90 Day Fiancé: Love In Paradise season 3. During the season, the pair were planning their wedding but ran into a lot of issues. Carlos had a longtime friend named Michele, whom he admitted to VaLentine that he had a crush on in the past. Carlos relayed that they never did anything sexually, but that the attraction was there. Carlos’ friendship with Michele made VaLentine uncomfortable, and he asked Carlos to cut contact with her. When he wouldn’t, the pair’s problems spiraled.

Ultimately, Carlos and VaLentine broke up just short of their wedding, and VaLentine left Colombia on the day that was supposed to be their wedding day. VaLentine gave an interview after the split in which he explained why they broke up.

“It’s really easy to look at the situation and think that we broke up because I didn’t like his friend, but all I was asking for from Carlos was honesty and to be made a priority, but he couldn’t give that to me.”

Carlos has not spoken publically about the breakup, but he seems to be happy flying solo. On Instagram, Carlos mainly shares posts dedicated to his chiseled physique and enjoyment of life. In 2023, he hung out with Daniele and Johan in the Dominican Republic but has not shared any content with either one since. Carlos seems to spend a lot of his time working out and traveling within Colombia and other Latin American and Caribbean countries.
