ITV Coronation Street’s Lauren leans on Roy as future relationship teased

Coronation Street actress Cait Fitton has revealed Lauren will grow closer to Roy in the coming days and weeks.

Lauren Bolton mysteriously disappeared several months ago, before it was later revealed that evil Joel Deering was the one who had attacked her and left for dead. She managed to escape and tried to run away but he managed to track her down and now she is left wondering if she should tell the truth about what he did to her and that he is the father of her baby.

However, as the fact Lauren is alive spreads through Weatherfield, Cait has revealed Lauren will turn to Roy for support, as she opened up on what was coming up for her character in the next few episodes.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror and other press, Cait – who plays Lauren – said her character will grow closer to Roy as the days and weeks go on. She explained: “No one told her right from wrong and I think Roy did that.

“Even though Roy is quite a socially awkward character, Lauren has always looked at him being the dad she never had. I think we’re going to see another wave to that bond. I think Lauren’s absolutely broken.”

She added: “She left Weatherfield in her own right but she had to leave people she really cared about behind. She will try and rebuild those connections and relationships because that’s her foundation and that’s what she is.”

Cait has seemingly hinted that Lauren will try and stay on the Cobbles for a while – but Joel is obviously keen for her to go as she would then be out of sight and out of mind for the others. Will she stay, or will she leave?

Cait is hopeful that Lauren will get justice for what Joel has done to her. She said recently: “I think that will help with the story in [saying that] victims are not weak, victims of sexual exploitation and grooming are not weak, they are very strong people. For it to be Lauren would be the closure she needs, the justice she needs and being heard. Lauren has never been heard in her life. She represents so many girls out there who are not heard, not justified, not validated so I would love it to be Lauren who brings Joel down.”
