Coronation Street fans were left on the edge of their nails during Wednesday’s episode
(July 31) as Joel Deering schemed his next move against Lauren Bolton.
The character, who recently made a comeback to Weatherfield after vanishing, is currently
living in her attacker Joel’s flat and is expecting his baby.
In the latest turn of events on the ITV soap, Joel showed up at the flat where he was sheltering pregnant Lauren, with groceries in tow. He feigned concern about her eating habits, keeping up the pretence that he cared for her and their unborn child.
Later, while at the police station, Joel was sidetracked from his duties when Lauren turned up, leading him to worry she was about to expose his crimes.
However, it turned out that Lauren was only there to collect her possessions that the police had seized from Roy Cropper upon his arrest, leaving the abuser in a state of alarm.
The villain was sent into chaos once more after receiving a voice message from his partner Dee-Dee, who informed him she had accepted a package on his behalf, assuming it was a present for her, reports the Express.
Joel rushed to their flat to retrieve the parcel, but Dee-Dee was puzzled as to why the package was addressed to ‘E. Smith’.
He quickly spun a tale, explaining it was delivered to their address for a client who is a victim of domestic abuse. Dee-Dee is still in the dark about Lauren Bolton being up the duff with baddie Joel’s sprog, not to mention his previous dodgy attempt on her life.
When Joel ripped open that mystery package, he was gutted to find a stash of pills and totally lost it, bursting into tears.
Earlier scenes had shown Joel sniffing around for ways to bring on an early labour, sparking whispers that he might be plotting something nasty for his yet-to-be-born nipper.
Corrie enthusiasts were horrified by the thought of Joel’s dark plans, and they didn’t hold back on social media, airing their shock and horror.
One Twitter user blurted out: “Joel gonna poison Lauren and the baby. DeeDee so lucky in love.”mAnother alarmed fan chirped up: “Joel has brought tablets for Lauren meaning if she takes them she’ll have a premature birth #Corrie.” A third worried viewer shared: “He’s going to be a child killer.”
And stoking the drama further, someone else added: “Joel is one sick individual. He spends more time at that flat he found for Lauren the one he shares with clueless Dee Dee #Corrie”.
