Emmerdale’s Dean Andrews has left fans in utter disbelief with a throwback photo revealing a dramatic transformation. Known for his role as Will Taylor on the hit show, Dean Andrews recently shared a vintage snapshot from 1986 that showcases his bold mullet hairstyle from back in the day. The image captures a younger Dean sporting the iconic look while performing at a holiday camp, leading one fan to remark on the impressive nature of his mullet.
Dean Andrews, born on August 6, 1963, in Rotherham, Yorkshire, has been captivating audiences with his diverse talents for decades. Since joining Emmerdale in April 2019, he has continued to impress with his acting chops. However, Dean’s career has spanned much more than his current role, with his roots tracing back to a variety of notable projects.
Before making his mark in Emmerdale, Dean’s acting journey began with a role in Ken Loach’s film The Navigators in 2001. His early career also saw him in a stint on EastEnders as Dean in 2002, and he appeared in the TV special EastEnders: Ricky and Bianca the same year. Dean’s resume includes significant roles in popular TV series such as Clocking Off (2003), Casualty, Shameless, The Street, and Silent Witness.
According to the Daily Star, Dean’s versatility is evident from his performances as Pete Lewis in Being Eileen (2013) and Robie in Last Tango in Halifax (2012-2016). Yet, it is his portrayal of the tough DS Ray Carling in the BBC hit Life on Mars (2006-2007) that remains a fan favorite. Dean later reprised this role in the sequel Ashes to Ashes (2008-2010), where he shared the screen with John Simm and Philip Glenister.
Dean frequently posts behind-the-scenes glimpses from these shows, including a memorable performance of Billy Joel’s “Uptown Girl” with co-stars Philip Glenister and Marshall Lancaster during the third series of Ashes to Ashes. Another photo shows Dean with co-star Monserrat Lombard and 80s music legend Tony Hadley on set, while a costume party scene features Dean and Marshall Lancaster dressed as Superman and James Bond.
In addition to his acting career, Dean’s singing talent has been a significant part of his life. For 20 years, he performed on cruise ships and at various clubs, with a nostalgic 1986 album cover featuring Dean in black trousers and a tan leather jacket being shared on his Instagram.
Off-screen, Dean is a devoted Rotherham football fan and has actively participated in fundraising events for Rotherham Hospital. He leads a fulfilling personal life with his wife, Helen Boen Green, and their two children. Recently, they celebrated the arrival of their granddaughter, Ida Ray, in August 2022.
