Emmerdale’s Moira Dingle, played by Natalie Robb, is at the heart of a dramatic new storyline, but there’s more to her life off-screen than meets the eye. Since joining the show as a farmer’s wife in 2009, Moira has been involved in plenty of on-screen drama, from turbulent relationships with bad boy Cain Dingle to dramatic childbirth scenes in a burning barn. However, Natalie Robb’s real life has its own share of surprises, including a secret romance and a hidden music career.
During her time on Emmerdale, Moira’s love life has been a rollercoaster, and it turns out her real-life love story has had its ups and downs too. In 2019, while on a charity trip to Lapland with her co-stars, Natalie developed a romantic connection with Johnny McPherson, who plays Liam Cavanagh. By January 2020, their chemistry had turned into a kiss. But their budding relationship faced challenges when the COVID-19 lockdown struck in March 2020. Johnny revealed in November 2020 that the lockdown accelerated their relationship, leading them to decide to move in together. Despite their efforts to keep their romance under wraps, their relationship was eventually revealed when they appeared together on a Zoom call for co-star Liam Fox’s 50th birthday.
Johnny spoke about their connection, noting that despite their different backgrounds, they shared a similar sense of humor and strong bond. Although they managed to navigate the lockdown together, Natalie and Johnny decided to part ways in 2021. Despite their breakup, they remain friends.
Beyond her acting career, Natalie has also made a name for herself in other TV shows like Waterloo Road, The Bill, and Where the Heart Is. In addition to her acting credentials, Natalie has a musical background. She was part of the band The Kinky and released a track called “Keep Your Love” in 1997 with the dance troupe Partisan.
