Coronation Street viewers were distracted during distressing scenes in tonight’s episode.

Friday’s edition of the long-running soap saw the Rovers Return stage a speed dating night. Singletons gathered at the pub in the hope of finding love.

Steve McDonald is still heartbroken after his marriage to Tracy Barlow broke down and he set his sights on Cassandra Plummer. However, the character, played by Claire Sweeney, snubbed Steve as she told him there was no chance of a romance between the two.

ITV warned before the episode aired that distressing scenes would be broadcast in the show. The speed dating night was the brainchild of Glenda Shuttleworth, but the night backfired in the most horrible fashion for the character.

One of the men she spoke to in the evening was later part of an armed robbery gang that broke into the pub. Glenda, played by Jodie Prenger, blamed herself for the incident and it looks as though the ordeal has had a traumatic effect on the character.

The character phoned the police and immediately recognized one of the burglars due to a tattoo on their hand. However, viewers following the show on social media platform X were distracted during the scenes as they spotted a fan favorite was missing.

Crimes on the Cobbles are usually investigated by PC Craig Tinker, played by Colson Smith. However, fans noticed he was absent from tonight’s episode and speculated it could be because the episodes were filmed when the actor was in the Celebrity Big Brother House.
