Tane tells Mali that he’s moving back to New Zealand – there’s nothing left for him at the Bay. Mali is shocked and decides to let Felicity know. She turns up at Tane’s home, demanding to know why she had to hear this news through a third party.
Tane insists that he’s not doing this to hurt her, but Felicity doesn’t understand why he would pack up his whole life and move away. To her, the Bay is big enough for both of them.
They talk about the possibility of dating other people. Felicity reassures him that she’s ready to move on, and that she will always want what’s best for him. With a renewed hope, Tane decides to stay – for now. They end the conversation with an embrace, optimistic about their separate futures, together.
Meanwhile, Dana is dead set on hooking Harper up with someone for a new romance. Just when Harper is settling down for a cosy night in, Harper announces that she’s booked a surprise for her. There’s a knock on the door – it’s Xander.
Harper is very confused as to why Xander turned up at her home. Dana explains: Moonlight at Salt is happening tonight, and she has asked Xander to be Harper’s date. Harper immediately pushes back, but Dana is insistent.
Elsewhere, Rose fronts up at the Surf Club, ready for a romantic walk with Mali, but a client has rebooked a surf lesson last minute and Mali has to bail.
Wanting to make it up to his girlfriend, Mali texts Rose about a romantic surprise, but is shocked when she turns up in uniform – he’s booked them tickets for Moonlight at Salt. Mali asks why she didn’t tell him she was working. Rose lightly chides him, pointing out that she hasn’t had a chance due to him ‘babysitting’ Mac and taking a surf lesson when they were meant to hang out.
Later, Mali confides in Xander – he has spent so little time with his girlfriend lately, it feels like he’s single again. Can Mali and Rose find time for each other?
