Birds of a Feather’s Pauline Quirke receives an MBE for services to young people, entertainment and charity from Prince William at Windsor Castle

Pauline Quirke proudly received an MBE at Windsor Castle today where she met Prince William.

The TV sitcom star is known for her role as Sharon Theodopolopodous on the hit comedy Birds of A Feather.

Quirke, 63, starred on the show alongside Linda Robson from 1988 to 1999, and in a revival from 2014-2017.

She is also known for appearances in Emmerdale from 2010 to 2012, and in crime drama Broadchurch.

She has since stepped back from acting to expand her performing arts school, the Pauline Quirke Academy, which was established in 2007.

Big day: Pauline Quirke proudly received an MBE at Windsor Castle today where she met Prince William

She was awarded her MBE for services to young people, entertainment and charity.

The MBE comes after rumours circulated that Pauline was locked in a feud with her Birds of a Feather co-star Linda Robson.

Last year, it was reported that the duo were no longer on speaking terms, with it alleged that matters became so heated at one point that the childhood friends had to be separated by crew members during filming at Teddington Studios in West London.

But last May Linda insisted that she’s ‘never’ had a fallout with Pauline.

The 64-year-old actress previously starred together in the sitcom and despite recent rumours, Linda has now told how they remain good friends.

In response to the speculation, Linda explained: ‘It’s a load of old s*** that we had a fallout. We have not fallen out and we have never fallen out. I have been best friends with her since we were ten years of age. We never fell out.’

Linda and Pauline recently reunited with their former Birds of a Feather co-star Lesley Joseph to discuss the possibility of a comeback.

Linda – who played Tracey Stubbs in the sitcom – told the Daily Mirror newspaper: ‘I was out for lunch with Pauline last Friday in London, The Delaunay, and it was discussed.’
