Coronation Street fans wanted answers as they spotted a major change in the Rovers Return. The iconic boozer has seen the best and worst of the street over the years and recently faced a period of closure after landlady Jenny Connor was forced to sell up.

A result of crippling costs amid the Cost-of-Living crisis, Jenny sold the beloved pub to Newton and Ridley, and all seemed well as she was able to continue running the pub with the help of her staff – Daisy Midgeley, Sean Tully, Glenda Shuttleworth and Gemma Winter-Brown.

However, the jubilation didn’t last long as they discovered Newton and Ridley were being sold to another company, Waterford Incorporated. Waterford’s manager arrived to break the news that they were closing the Rovers for an extensive refurbishment and that the staff’s contracts had terminated with immediate effect.

Fast forward to when serial killer Stephen Reid struck before his death in shock scenes aired in October, it was Daisy who found a somewhat criminal way of getting the pub back. After some digging and finding Stephen’s journal which was dumped by his mother Audrey Roberts, Daisy was able to get access to the account holding the money he had stolen from Carla Connor’s Underworld.

After convincing Jenny they should use the money, the pair brought back the owners and agreed to be secret co-owners. However, Daisy’s co-ownership has since been uncovered and the pair claimed they got the money from her mother, Christina, after the bank turned down their loan application.

But the truth about where they got the money was first nearly exposed by Christina, who actually kept up the lie in a power move over her daughter, but it was Bethany Platt who was left intrigued after spotting Daisy stepping out of Tim Metcalfe’s cab with multiple shopping bags after a major shopping spree.
