Emmerdale is set to be ‘totally rocked’ by three devastating storylines this Spring that will have viewers on the edge of their seats.
Over the coming weeks the ITV soap will see stories unfold involving domestic violence, a heartbreaking cancer diagnosis as well as tragic accident that leaves one village resident fighting for their life.
Tom King (James Chase) will continue his manipulation and control over new wife Belle (Eden Taylor-Draper) with the situation only getting worse during one special episode that ‘steps away from the usual Emmerdale format’.
Show producer Laura Shaw said: ‘It’s a dinner party mainly focussing on Tom and Belle and Marlon and Rhona and we’ll see what’s going on in their relationship and how what you see in public is not necessarily what you see behind closed doors’.
The soap has consulted with domestic abuse charity Refuge for the storyline in order portray it accurately.

Meanwhile Billy (Jay Kontzle) and Dawn Fletcher (Olivia Bromley) will be left heartbroken when their young son Evan is shockingly diagnosed with leukaemia.
Laura said: ‘We are going to see Dawn and Billy’s world totally rocked when almost out of nowhere Evan is diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia’.
‘We want to show what a strain this can put on a family, the roles of Dawn and Billy are changed overnight’.
The producer also teased an upcoming accident, involving two unnamed families, that would leave one character’s life in jeopardy.
Saying: ‘We’ll see someone in some really serious medical jeopardy – whether they live or die, we’ll have to see. But the ripples and repercussions from that accident will be very long-lasting and life-changing’.
Also causing a stir will be former Waterloo Road actress Christine Tremarco who is due to make her onscreen debut in April.
Christine, 46, will arrive in the village as Rose – a woman known to Kim Tate’s husband Will – ITV revealed on Tuesday.
Bolshy and boisterous, Rose has recently been living in Benidorm and her arrival is set to cause a stir when Will [Dean Andrews] fails to mention her to his wife Kim [Claire King].
