Emmerdale star James Hootan opened up about one cheeky X-rated action he tries to slip into every scene.
The beloved actor has been on our screens since 1995 and his character Sam Dingle has been through countless storylines over the years. The ITV favourite’s character has been shot, trampled over by a cow and even kidnaped.
Back in 2020, Sam and Lydia finally tied the knot after years of dating. Just years later in October 2022, Sam became a grandfather when Amelia Spencer gave birth to Samson’s daughter Esther.
But over the past few months, fans have watched the village regular struggle to keep his marriage alive after the matriarch was raped by her former childhood sweetheart Craig Reed. Now, the actor has revealed one cheeky detail he still tries to slip into her performance years later as Sam Dingle attempts to repair his marriage.
Speaking to outlets at the time of Sam and Lydia’s wedding, the soap hunk confessed he often tries to make it look like his character has been interrupted getting down and dirty with his wife at home. He chuckled: “I always try to make it look as though we’ve just come out of post-coital situations.
“If we start a scene where we’re coming down the stairs, I was always trying to zip my flies up on the way down for a laugh.” But it appears as though his cheeky antics are not always appreciated by producers, who eventually asked him to stop unzipping his flies on set.
