Entourage star Jeremy Piven has detailed his hilarious and awkward first meeting with Russell Crowe.
The American funnyman, 58, revealed exactly what happened when he first met the Gladiator star, 59, at a glitzy Hollywood party.
Speaking on Thursday’s The Kyle and Jackie O Show, Jeremy candidly admitted that he was very ‘intimidated’ by Australian-based actor Russell when they first met.
‘I was at a Hollywood party, and I had one interaction with Russell, and you know he’s a very intimidating figure,’ he explained.
Jeremy, who played ruthless agent Ari Gold in the hit HBO show Entourage, admitted that things went from bad to worse when he couldn’t understand Russell’s accent.
After being confused by what he was saying, Jeremy eventually worked out that Russell was expressing a desire to work with him.
‘As it turns out, he had seen me in a film called Very Bad Things, which is just a beautiful, tragic, amazing, dark comedy,’ he went on.
According to Jeremy, Russell then asked him whether they could work together, to which he quipped: ‘I go: “I’m in wardrobe right now!”‘
In another interview on Thursday’s 2Day FM’s Hughesy, Ed & Erin breakfast show, Jeremy also called out Australian actress Melissa George for refusing to talk about her time on Home and Away.
The hosts were discussing how actors who play iconic roles often want to make their past roles off-limits in interviews about their upcoming projects.
‘Some people play these iconic roles early in their career and then they hate talking about them. Like Melissa George is an example,’ one of the hosts said.
In 2012, Melissa was angered when The Morning Show hosts Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies played clips of her on Home and Away, asking about her time on the soap.
At the time, News Corp reported that Melissa had threatened to walk off the set if her time on Home and Away was mentioned.
Explaining the now-infamous TV bust-up, Jeremy then criticised Melissa as he insisted he is always happy to talk about his fan favourite Entourage character Ari.
Jeremy said: ‘Well Melissa George needs to calm down. I need to go to her home and I need to do a little TED talk to her about gratitude.’
