Coronation Street spoilers follow.
Coronation Street has confirmed a change in dating luck for Steve McDonald as he meets a show newcomer.
Steve has recently decided to move into online dating after his wife Tracy ended their marriage by moving to Spain with former footballer Tommy Orpington.
Scenes next week will see Steve get a few matches – though he indirectly manages to cause tension among other cobbles residents. Notably, Kevin makes a sexist comment about one of his matches, Maggie, angering Abi, while Tim ends up chatting to a friend of Steve’s date Carole in the Rovers, which doesn’t leave Sally best pleased.
In new scenes airing later in the week (Friday, May 3), Steve is feeling disappointed after a string of disastrous dates and admits to Amy that he is fed up with dating apps. However, when he gets a message from match Demi, he perks up.
While preparing for his date with Demi, he declares to Amy that he is convinced his latest match is the one.
Sure enough, during their date at the Rovers, Steve and Demi hit it off immediately, suggesting his luck has changed.
However, is it too good to be true?
Steve actor Simon Gregson recently admitted that while it would be “great” to see Steve date again, he is happy for his character to stay single “for a while”.
However, addressing who he’d like Steve to be with next, the star added: “I think anyone will do. At this point in Steve’s life, he’d be lucky to have anybody!”
