Coronation Street’s Roy Cropper made a mystery phone call on Friday night that teased his next move.

The character learned a sad update as he faced court once again in the latest episode of the ITV soap. Roy was charged for the murder of Lauren Bolton recently, and he’s awaiting his time in court over the crime.

But amid him being held in custody, there was hope this week he might be released over new evidence about a suspect. Bobby Crawford had made a false statement to the police about seeing a man, not matching Roy’s description, fleeing Lauren’s flat around the time she went missing.

But this wasn’t believed and certainly wasn’t enough to free Roy, and instead the judge decided he would be kept in a cell until the next hearing. The setback left Roy devastated, and soon he came to realise Bobby’s witness account may have been faked.

As Roy reeled from the day’s events in his cell, he came to a decision. Towards the end of the episode, Roy was seen making a phone call, and on the other end of the line we heard DS Swain saying her name out loud, and asking who was calling her.

The episode ended before Roy spoke, but what does he have planned and is he about to drop Bobby in it? Fans believe he was about to expose Bobby’s lies, speaking to the police with one fan posting on X: “I really hope that Roy is going to grass on Bobby.”
