Brooke Vincent says she lives in fear that her Coronation Street character will be killed off – even though she quit the soap five years ago.
The 31-year-old actress played Sophie Webster on the long-running ITV show for fifteen years from 2004 until 2019. Since leaving the show, Brooke and her 27-year-old footballer boyfriend Kean Bryan have welcomed two sons – with first son, Mexx arriving in October 2019 and second son Monroe arriving in May 2021.
The actress left Corrie in 2019 to begin maternity leave – and fans fully expected her to return. But instead, she has gone on to act in other shows and has also appeared in new reality show Drama Queens. She has hosted a radio show, and of course welcomed her second son. Now the actress has claimed she worries Corrie bosses could kill off her iconic character.
She has hinted that she would love to return to the show – but would be devastated to learn her character would be killed. Brooke – who effectively grew up on the set of the show – has described the cast and crew of the soap as being like her family.
Opening up to Fabulous, Brooke shared her thoughts on returning to Corrie – and her fears her time on the show could end for good. She said: “Corrie was my home – it still is my home – and I feel like I’ve just gone off to university to do my little thing for a while! I never wanted to leave, because I panic about saying goodbye. It’s been a massive part of my life and the people that I worked with are like a family.”
She added: “So although I’m not [talking about] a comeback, I don’t want them to ring and say: ‘We’re killing you off!’ either. That would be devastating!”
Brooke previously told OK! magazine: “The hard thing about Corrie was that the hours aren’t a normal nine-to-five, or you couldn’t go part-time, or you couldn’t start after 10am. I didn’t want that to affect my time with my first baby. I thought while I was able to step away, I did, and I felt that was the best decision for me and my family at the time.”
