Emmerdale viewers were not happy with the latest scenes after Samson Dingle’s friend Josh showed transphobic traits.
Josh has caused severe upset since he landed himself in Emmerdale as he continues to execute his cocky behaviour on screen. During Thursday’s episode (June 6), Samson and Josh went for a drink at the Hop.
However, while they were there, Josh continued to flirt and make sexual advances at Amy. Matty, Amy’s husband, was evidently disgusted by the young lad’s demeanour.
But Josh wouldn’t stop and later called Matty- who is a trans male- a “freak”. He also told Matty that he belonged in a circus.
Seeing the disturbing behaviour unfold on screen, fans headed straight to X to complain. One upset viewer said: “Why have writers introduced Samson’s pathetic, transphobiccocky little mate? It’s very uncomfortable viewing and like going back to the 1970s.”
Another penned: “Samson’s friend is a creep! He’s clearly very transphobic too. I don’t know why Samson actually sees him as a friend who he wants to hang out with.”
A third echoed: “Josh is just jealous that someone who’s trans can pull a beautiful woman. When the only thing his obnoxious ass can pull is a muscle.”
While a fourth added: “I wonder if the powers-that-be think bringing in new characters like Rose & Josh will improve ratings. If so, they’re sadly wrong…”
Later on, Matty clearly had enough of Josh’s vile antics and told them to leave the premises. But Josh wasn’t happy and want to get his revenge, despite Samson encouraging him not to.
Heading back into Hop, Josh demanded Matty to give him a refund. Even though Matty initially refused, the tension continued to rise.

When the only thing his obnoxious ass can pull is a muscle.” With Matty having a sharp object in his hand, Josh pushed Samson into Matty which resulted him being accidentally stabbed. But things took a surprising turn when Matty was later arrested for the strange ordeal.
Heading over to X again, fans complained that the story was too unbelievable. One viewer penned: “Writers have a problem when they decide to do a script with violence/theft etc because nowadays cctv is everywhere. #emmerdale They just choose to ignore this fact.”
While another chimed: “You really have to ask yourself how the writing standards can get any worse. What utter b*****ks.”
