Home and Away is embarking on a new storyline this week Down Under, as a mystery illness starts affecting the residents of Summer Bay.
As detailed in Australia’s TV Week magazine, episodes airing this week in Australia see lifeguards John and Dana discover a washed-up container on the shore. They contact the authorities, who don’t seem concerned, so John decides to remove it.
Before that can happen, Dana manages to get the container open. The pair are hit with a foul stench
It’s not long before other residents start fainting as well, and John wonders if it’s connected to the container they found. If so, could it be part of some sinister scheme to take down the Bay. John’s actor Shane Withington told the publication: “His first thoughts are for Dana, but then he’s concerned that an illness might affect the community.
“As John gets sicker, he begins to think that this disease could be the end of him.”
These scenes will air in the UK in July.
