Coronation Street star Daniel Brocklebank has got fans thinking he may be eyeing up a new role as he reunited with a familiar face. The actor impressed fans recently when he spent a weekend with a number of icons, from both the TV and music industry.
Daniel, who is known for playing Billy Mayhew in the ITV soap, first was seen cosying up to none other than Grace Jones with his partner Jordan Coulthard after they went to watch the singer at her gig at The Piece Hall in Halifax, West Yorkshire.
Captioning a string of snaps of the group, Daniel wrote on Instagram: “An absolutely incredible night @thepiecehall watching @gracejonesofficial with my dear friend @sarahdouglasofficial & @_coulthard. What a glorious time.”
And within a few days, Daniel was seen with another legend, this time Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies. The soap star took to Instagram with a selfie of the pair as they got to spend some time together more than 20 years after they first met.
Daniel said: “What a gorgeous treat to have an unexpected social evening with this legend. @russelltdavies63. We first met back in 1998 when I auditioned to play Nathan in #QueerAsFolk. Neither of us have aged a day.” Russell then responded: “Haha! Not one day!”
But some fans couldn’t help but predict Daniel may soon be seen on Doctor Who. @jon.dawber said: “Doctor Who villain role incoming.” @bryonbyronwhatever asked: “So when should we expect to see you on Doctor Who?” @chrislloydjames99 added: “Oh wow two legends in one shot.”
It comes as Daniel is preparing to say goodbye to his Corrie co-star. Peter Ash will have an emotional exit from the ITV soap at Paul Foreman as the character’s health deteriorates after being diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) last year. The diagnosis came after the former builder initially thought he’d suffered nerve damage after being knocked over by a drugged Carla Connor.
Earlier this year, viewers saw Billy discover what Paul had been secretly planning after watching the heartbreaking moment Paul suggested to Todd Grimshaw that he wanted to make the choice when his life should come to an end as his symptoms caused by the life-limiting disease progress.
After his initial reluctance to agree to Paul’s plan, Billy, in the end, vowed to be there for his husband and help him when he decides the time has come for him to end his own life. The couple have since been going about their business, both knowingly hiding a secret, along with Todd and Summer Spellman who was also informed of the tragic plan ahead of her recent trip to America.
In recent weeks, Corrie fans have been left heartbroken as Paul’s condition deteriorates, with him now using a feeding tube and after a recent fall, facing being told his stair lift used to get out of his and Billy’s flat should not longer be used, meaning he faces the rest of his life without getting outside.
