Matt Roloff and Karen Chandler, stars of “Little People, Big World,” have indefinitely postponed their dream Hawaii wedding due to a family health crisis. Matt, 62, proposed to Karen, 53, in April 2023 after six years together, with plans for an intimate ceremony later that year. However, as time passed, they have yet to set a date.
The couple initially aimed for a May wedding, possibly in Hawaii, but have delayed their plans. Matt’s mother, Peggy, has required extra care, especially following the loss of his father, Ronald, in 2022. Peggy recently relocated to Oregon to be closer to the family. Matt has been focusing on spending more time with her, particularly with pumpkin season approaching, leaving little time to plan a wedding.
On social media, Matt shared a Mother’s Day tribute to his mom, expressing joy at having her nearby. During the Season 25 finale of “Little People, Big World,” Matt and Karen discussed their wedding plans, revealing disagreements over the event’s details. While Karen prefers a small, intimate ceremony, Matt suggested a larger gathering at Roloff Farms, even proposing a helicopter entrance—an idea Karen quickly dismissed.
Despite these differences, the couple remains committed to marriage. Matt has been preparing for the big day, including lifting weights to carry Karen over the threshold. He shared with People that after six wonderful years together, Karen accepted his proposal, and they look forward to a simple but elegant wedding in 2024.
Karen’s son, Connor, mentioned that Matt initially intended to give Karen a commitment ring, but later decided to propose during a quiet moment in their favorite backyard spot in Arizona. While the couple has considered marrying in Arizona or Mexico, they have yet to finalize their plans.
Tensions within the Roloff family might also impact the wedding. Since their 2015 divorce, Matt and Amy Roloff have moved on, but Amy has claimed in her tell-all book that Matt was involved with Karen while they were still married, leading to ongoing friction. Matt denied these allegations, emphasizing that he and Karen started their relationship after his marriage ended.
Family dynamics have continued to be strained, particularly between Matt and his son Zach, 33, after a feud over the sale of Roloff Farms. Zach and his wife, Tori, moved to Washington and have maintained their distance, with Zach admitting that their relationship is “not great” and remains unresolved.
Amid these challenges, the Roloff family has faced public scrutiny for various behaviors. Recently, Jeremy Roloff was criticized for risky activities involving his children, and Isabel Roloff, wife of Jacob Roloff, was called out for what some fans perceive as toxic behavior. Meanwhile, Matt shared a glimpse into his life post-divorce, revealing his go-to meal of microwave rice and sardines—a stark contrast to the home-cooked meals he enjoyed during his marriage to Amy.
As Matt and Karen navigate these challenges, fans continue to speculate about their future, eagerly awaiting updates on their wedding plans and the evolving dynamics within the Roloff family.
