Coronation Street spoilers follow.
Coronation Street brings in Paul Foreman and Gemma Winter’s father Denny next week.
Danny Cunningham has been cast in the role of Denny, who heads to Weatherfield after hearing Paul give a live radio interview.
Next week, Paul is one of the first guests on Amy Barlow’s new student radio show.
Paul speaks passionately about his Motor Neurone Disease and how society has a lack of regard for people who have disabilities.
Later in the week, Denny approaches Bernie outside the café and complains that he only found out their son was dying when he heard Paul on the radio.
Bernie doesn’t want Denny to be involved in Paul’s life again, so she lies that Paul is already dead and the recent interview was a recording.
Denny doesn’t believe Bernie’s claims and follows her up to the flat, where he’s reunited with Paul and Gemma.
Bernie is livid when Denny makes his presence known, quipping that Paul looks good for someone who’s supposedly dead.
Once Bernie is alone with her partner Dev Alahan, she complains about Denny’s sudden return. Secretly, she’s worried that Denny might expose secrets from her past.
Paul’s husband Billy Mayhew is also unhappy over Denny, reminding Paul that Denny used to be violent towards him when he was a child.
Billy declares that Denny is not to be trusted, but when Paul invites his dad to come and watch a film with him, Billy reluctantly respects his wishes.
