Coronation Street Eileen Grimshaw star’s weight loss and new career announcement after Cobbles exit

Eileen Grimshaw is renowned as one of the most famous characters on Coronation Street.

Sue Cleaver joined the cast as Eileen in 2000 and has been a fan favourite on Weatherfield ever since. However, it was revealed last night that Eileen is set to temporarily depart the Cobbles to visit her son, Jason Grimshaw, in Thailand, as he has broken his back.

The departure was typically wracked with family drama as George Shuttleworth decided the terms of his will and it remains to be seen whether the character, played by Tony Maudsley, will have healed the rift with his sister, Glenda, when Eileen returns. Sue took a break from her main job on Corrie as she went on a tour of Sister Act The Musical.

It has been a big week for the 60-year-old as she confirmed more exciting career news as her first book is set to be published. A Work In Progress is available to pre-order now and Sue said it will tackle issues of overthinking and losing faith in yourself.

She said: “It’s about my journey about my struggles with all of those things, especially overthinking and worrying and panicking about things. I just wanted to get on here and share it with you.”

Sue Cleaver is renowned for her role as Eileen Grimshaw in Coronation Street

Sue has previously trained to be a psychotherapist and the book will tap into her training as the post captioned: “Are you a chronic overthinker, do you have anxiety, or suffer from self-doubt? Sue Cleaver has been there, done that, and is still learning from it. In A Work in Progress, Cleaver shares her experiences and life stories, reflects on how they made her feel and what she learned, and offers advice and wisdom for others who find themselves in similar situations.

Sue has previously revealed she was training to become a psychotherapist in an interview with Soaplife as she said: “I am qualified to take clients and have another 18 months to go before I can finish my four-year course in Analysis Psychotherapy at the Manchester Institute for Psychotherapy. It’s hard work fitting it in with Corrie, but I love it.”

Away from her career, Sue was married to James Quinn from 1993 -2003 and the two share a son named Elliott. The soap star is now in a relationship with Brian Owen, who is a member of the backstage crew on Coronation Street.
