Coronation Street fans are willing for their prediction over Cassie Plummer’s next storyline to come true as they seemingly change their verdict on the character. Claire Sweeney joined the ITV soap as Tyrone Dobbs’ real mum and daughter of Evelyn Plummer last year.

After vowing to her new-found family to stay clean, Cassie quickly found herself with a job at the garage. However, her meddling in Kevin and Abi Webster saw her lose her job – despite her being found not to be responsible for the shocking deep fake porn videos of Abi.

Steve McDonald, Amy Barlow and Daniel Osbourne were left having to discuss care package options for the Barlow patriarch and wondered how on earth they were going to fund it. Unbeknownst to them, Cassie Plummer was listening with interest and offered to be Ken’s carer for a quarter the price of a professional. Daniel and Amy were quick to snap her up while Steve reluctantly agreed, leaving Cassie thrilled.  Steve McDonald, Amy Barlow and Daniel Osbourne were left having to discuss care package options for the Barlow patriarch and wondered how on earth they were going to fund it. But things went wrong when the family agreed to not let Ken know that Cassie isn’t qualified, only for her to tell him herself that she wasn’t trained to look after him. Later, Ken ended up apologising to Cassie for his reaction to finding out she wasn’t a qualified career and the pair were soon sitting enjoying a laugh and a brew.

However, Cassie now appears to have won Steve round with the pair going on their own revenge mission during scenes aired during Monday night’s (July 1) Corrie.

It started with Steve’s birthday party – or at least not the one he was expecting – as he marked his 50th birthday. Convinced his family were throwing him a surprise 50th, the birthday boy was disappointed when Cassie and Ken threw him a small home gathering with Rita Tanner and Brian Packham as guests.

Soon after, to discover Tim and Sally Metcalfe are at the unveiling of former Weatherfield County hero-turned-love rival Tommy Orpington’s bust instead. Cassie offered to drive him to the event to confront them. Once there they discover a way to get revenge on Tommy once and for all.

The pair ended up nicking the new bust, swapping it for a football with a drawing of a person on, much to Tommy’s horror. Later, Tim and Sally returned home from the do only to find Tommy’s bust hiding in their bed.

And the scenes went down well with Corrie fans who were left giggling at Steve and Cassie’s antics – and were left wanting more. @andyliam20 said: “The bust didn’t look anything like Tommy O!
