Coronation Street fans think they ‘smell a rat’ as they don’t true Roy Cropper’s new prison mate Roscoe. As viewers of the ITV soap know, the beloved cafe owner is currently behind bars for a crime he says and fans think he didn’t commit.

Roy was charged with the murder of Lauren Bolton following her disappearance in February. The teen hasn’t been seen after being sacked from her job at Roy’s Rolls. Roy later visited her with her wages and some extra cash to tide her over. But soon after, the teen was visited at home by a mystery person who viewers never got to see.

As a result, she hasn’t been seen alive since and it was her new love interest and Carla Connor’s nephew Bobby found her flat unlocked and eerily empty. It wasn’t until later that blood was spotted on the curtains in the flat that was confirmed as being Lauren’s that the missing person case became a murder probe.

Weeks on, and with Roy imprisoned awaiting trial for murder, Corrie has confirmed a special week of episodes ‘like no other’ which will see the Weatherfield stalwart’s prison hell come to a head while recently returned predator Nathan Curtis is firmly put on the police’s radar as viewers discover what really happened on the fateful night that Lauren disappeared.

It will also see Roy’s prison hell come to a head and during Wednesday night’s (May 22) episode of Corrie, fans fot an inkling of who the Weatherfield stalwart shouldn’t be trusting while inside. Fellow prisoner Roscoe was seen walking into Roy’s cell and claimed to be on his side as he continued to hide himself away in his cell.

Fearful, Roy ordered him to leave but Roscoe claimed they had a mutual friend and that he was there to be an ally of his, at the request of someone else. Roscoe told Roy that he was an old friend of Roy’s neighbour Stu Carpenter and later, during a phone call to the cafe, Roy passed on his thanks to Stu, with Stu confirming Roscoe’s story was correct.

But some Corrie fans couldn’t help but question if there was a different reason for Roscoe suddenly wanting to help Roy, and with no names exchanged over the phone, was he the person Stu was talking about?
