Coronation Street fans think they have spotted Kit Green’s next move after ‘face clue’. The character, played by Jacob Roberts, first appeared in the ITV soap last month.
Viewers were first introduced to Christopher ‘Kit’ Green after Bernie Winter, played by Jane Hazlegrove, had been on a mission to track down her long-lost son Zodiac, who was adopted and had his name changed to Christopher Green not long after he was born.
Bernie was secretly carrying out her search for the child she gave away almost thirty years ago. However, after Gemma Winter-Brown became suspicious of her mum, she told Bernie’s partner Dev Alahan to get to the bottom of things and she ended up crumbling and revealing all about Zodiac.
Later, she tracked down a man with the same name and of the right age. She pretended to be an agency cleaner so she could get into his house. However, she was caught rifling through his drawers leading to Bernie admitting why she was really there. Kit insisted he wasn’t adopted but seemed angry at Bernie when she spoke about why she’d given her son away and why she was looking for him now when her other son, Paul Foreman, is dying.
Kit then appeared to target Bernie, taking her unnecessarily into the police station, much to the dismay of DS Lisa Swain. Eventually the truth came out about him being Bernie’s biological son, however, he made it clear he didn’t want anything to do with her or her family.
During Friday night’s (June 28) Corrie, Corrie fans saw Bernie go to Kit for help after Gemma was arrested for stealing shoes from a shoe shop for her daughter, Carhys. After PC Craig Tinker mentions Gemma and husband Chesney’s struggles, Kit softens and calls at the shoe shop and convinced shop owner Bruce to drop the complaint, hinting he has information he wouldn’t want getting out.
Back in the cell, Kit speaks to Gemma and she is intrigued to know why Kit wanted to help her. Later, she introduced him to Chesney and the kids but whilst there, he got a shocking call from his dad. Sitting on Gemma’s sofa, he was delivered the tragic news that his mum had suddenly died.
He was informed she had suffered a stroke and he soon raced to leave Gemma’s house but not before he came face-to-face with Bernie. Kit railed at his birth mum as he said: “I should have been with her today. Instead, I got caught up helping with your dodgy family.”
He cried as he said the mum he “loved” was dead whilst the one who “abandoned” him “being very much alive”. But amid his tears, Kit then soon appeared to have a change of heart as he told Bernie that his adoptive mum’s death had made him reflect and he was now keen to get to know Gemma and his dying brother Paul and insisted they tell the twin siblings everything tomorrow.
But Corrie fans weren’t convinced about his sincerity, having spotted a look on his face as he walked away. @KirstyCakes3006 said: “I don’t trust Kit/Christopher/Zodiac… #Corrie.” @Clariss96192813 commented: “@itvcorrie Come on then theories please,what is Kit up to ,clearly something #corrie #kit.”
@UDjoking asked: “Is Kit going to try and build a wedge between Bernie, Paul and Gemma? #corrie.” @CerysLufc replied: “Not sure I liked that look on Kit’s face then #corrie.” @InTheSavgeGardn posted: “Something tells me Kit isn’t going to be quite as nice… #Corrie.” @laurendugdale_ added: “I thought Corrie was going to finish so nicely, but Kits face dropped at the end and now I feel sorry for Bernie #Corrie.”
And Corrie star Jacob, who previously starred in Hollyoaks, has already proven their theory correct. “It is all an act, he is letting her think that he wants to bring the family together and whilst he is being honest about wanting a relationship with Gemma and Paul, he is pretending that he wants to build bridges with Bernie but it is the last thing he wants,” the actor explained.
As Bernie waits for Kit in the Rovers to discuss how to break the news to the twins, she is unaware that he is already telling them everything. Jacob said: “He wants to tell Gemma and Paul his version of events,’ Jacob revealed. ‘He wants them to know how their mum abandoned him and kept his existence from them. He is determined to make it clear how they all missed out and really make it clear how selfish he feels she was. He does get some pleasure about doing it behind her back. He wants to hurt her like she hurt him.”
