Coronation Street favourite arrested after confessing to serious crime

Abi Webster (Sally Carman) was frustrated in Wednesday’s episode of Coronation Street as

DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) accused her of setting fire to Stefan Brent’s car and offices.

We were re-introduced to Stefan a few weeks ago as part of Abi’s deepfake pornography

storyline. Stefan is the father of Corey Brent, who killed Abi’s son Seb in a hate crime attack.

Stefan seemingly disappeared after Abi reached a deal with him that involved the police not knowing he was responsible for the deepfakes. In return, Stefan never reported Kevin (Michael Le Vell) after he broke into his office.

In tonight’s instalment, topic of conversation in the Webster household was the arson attack. Given her history with Stefan and penchant for getting revenge on people, Kevin couldn’t help but wonder if Abi was responsible.

The accusation made Abi feel hurt. A little while later, her anger grew even more when Swain arrived at the garage and explained the police need to question Abi about where she was when the fire took place.

In an interview room, Lisa provided Abi with evidence that confirmed she was outside Stefan’s offices moments before the attack. Abi explained that she hung around for a bit, but then decided to leave.

It was a chat with Tyrone (Alan Halsall) that helped Abi work out the truth and realise Kevin’s son Jack (Kyran Bowes) was actually responsible. Due to the fact Tyrone had revealed he took Hope (Isabella Flanagan) and Ruby (Billie Naylor) to the cinema, Abi knew Jack was lying about where he was.

As Kevin discovered what his son had done, his immediate reaction was to take himself off to the police station and confess.

Back in the interview room, Kevin spun a story but it left Swain suspicious and convinced he was just covering for Abi. The detective then received some information and moments later, Kevin was released.

In the lobby of the station, Swain explained to Kevin that she knows he isn’t covering for his wife – he’s actually covering for his son.

Kevin, Abi and Debbie (Sue Devaney) then spotted Jack entering the police station with officers beside him. Swain revealed he had confessed to everything, which left the family horrified.

Does this mean we’ll be saying goodbye to Jack soon?

Will he face time behind bars for this?
