Coronation Street is set to air a change for Evelyn and Cassie Plummer’s relationship.
The mother and daughter have a complicated history and haven’t always seen eye to eye, with their living arrangements causing tension in recent weeks.
As Tyrone and Fez Dobbs prepared to come home from Italy, the family realized that Number 9 was too crowded, and Evelyn and Cassie both attempted to make a good impression in order to be allowed to stay.
But they ended up fighting, with each believing the other should move out, and Tyrone and Fez arrived home to find them in the middle of a blazing row.
While neither Evelyn nor Cassie has moved out, there is still a tense atmosphere, with old wounds threatening to open at any minute.
However the pair’s strained relationship is set to take a turn, with Cassie being forced to remember some difficult memories from her past.
In tonight’s episode (March 22), Lauren Bolton’s disappearance continues to be the talk of Weather field, and Evelyn sees an article that describes Lauren as a sex worker.
The article brings back painful memories for Cassie, and she is angry when she hears Evelyn and Daisy Midgeley discussing Lauren.
Son Tyrone later tells Evelyn and Fiz that Cassie once had to resort to sex work, which leaves them stunned – but Tyrone might not even know the full story himself.
This revelation will lead to Cassie explaining the full extent of her troubled past to her family, including mum Evelyn.
In scenes that will air on Monday, March 25, in the aftermath of Cassie opening up about her painful memories, Evelyn decides to cook lunch for her daughter.
Evelyn also offers to buy her a drink afterwards, leaving Cassie confused by her uncharacteristic generosity and the sudden change in her usually frosty attitude.
Later in the Rovers, Evelyn and Cassie raise a toast and agree to put the past behind them.
Have the pair reached a welcome turning point, and is their rift finally healed?
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
