Coronation Street viewers were left in tears after Wednesday’s (July 24)
episode delivered a gut-wrenching blow to Paul Foreman.
Diagnosed with motor neurone disease last year, his health has taken a dive,
and recent scenes saw things get worse.
During a home visit, when the nurse popped over to the flat that Paul shares with hubby Billy, she dropped a bombshell their home’s no longer safe.
Despite Paul’s feeble attempt claiming he “was fine”, the nurse was having none of it, telling him sternly, “No Paul, it’s dangerous”.
Bernie Winter was scrabbling around for solutions, even suggesting hoisting Paul up and down the stairs herself. But practicalities like fire safety left her stumped.
The situation escalated as Paul was ordered to stay put while they scouted out a new pad better suited for him. But the news left Paul visibly upset.
Billy’s remark summed it up: “We can’t just lug him up and down the stairs like a sack of potatoes”.
But the nurse had the final word, assuring them Paul’s predicament makes him a housing priority, reports the Express.
Corrie fans couldn’t cope with Paul being trapped in his flat and flooded social media to share their distress.
One viewer lamented on X: “Poor Paul, got to stay in the flat. #Corrie”, and another simply commented: “Oh Paul”, capped off with the symbol of heartbreak.
Corrie enthusiasts shared their dismay with one viewer remarking: “Paul can’t use his stairlift anymore”, alongside a teary-eyed emoji.
Another distressed fan blurted out, “Paul’s a shut-in now. #Corrie”.
