Coronation Street cast members have teased some of the biggest moments ahead in the
Lauren Bolton storyline, with one villain finally facing his downfall as characters take action
Following the most recent Lauren Bolton news, Coronation Street is planning more plot twists
and turns for the ITV soap opera.
Months after going missing, Lauren made an unexpected comeback to the show last week. Later on, we discovered that Joel Deering had attacked her and killed her, but in a recent episode, it was revealed that she was still alive.
Furthermore, we learned that she was five months pregnant with Joel’s child when she left again in a taxi, despite Joel’s attempts to frighten her away. Characters will start searching for Lauren once her true destiny is revealed, and eventually, she returns to Weatherfield.
But what lies ahead in the narrative, and is Joel going to be held accountable at last? Cast members Channique Sterling-Brown, Cait Fitton, and Calum Lill discussed the story and its upcoming turns in an exclusive interview with The Mirror.
Joel to get worse
Joel’s behavior appears to be getting worse, suggesting that the worst is yet to come. The actor who plays him, Calum, has revealed that there is more to come that viewers may find offensive, even though we thought we had seen the worst of him thus far—from his attack on Lauren to his manipulation of Ellie.
He stated: “This is the most pressure he’s felt absolutely, [where he has] the most at stake [and] the most loose ends he’s not been able to sort out and tie off.”There could be something that throws his entire world for a loop every which way he turns.”
He continued, “[It’s that] push and pull.” on the baby twist. He humanized it when he heard “boy” or “girl,” but he still has a part of him that prioritizes his own needs. I don’t think we have seen the worst of him yet, so who knows where it will lead him.”
The actress Channique, who plays Dee-Dee Bailey, also expressed her opinion, saying, “I honestly don’t know if Joel would hurt Dee-Dee.” I believe that part of his mindset may be that if I can’t have you, then nobody else can. It remains to be seen if that would put her in danger.
“As everything is currently about wedding bells, we will have to wait and see what transpires with that because what’s in the dark always comes to light. I do believe their relationship will change in the upcoming weeks because she is a tough girl and has people reading skills.”
Lauren’s return
Soon after, Lauren visits Roy Cropper and returns to the cobbles, apologizing for her tardiness. Roy suffered a heart attack in a recent episode after being charged with her murder and eventually freed.
Lauren needs a place to stay, but it’s unclear if she plans to stay for the duration of her pregnancy. But could Lauren be gone again soon, with Joel desperate to get her out of Weatherfield?
Actress Cait hinted that Lauren might make a permanent comeback, expressing her desire for Lauren to defeat Joel. “It’s going to be very juicy going forward, that’s all I can say,” she added. There are still a ton of twists and turns to come; otherwise, Coronation Street wouldn’t exist.”
Wedding and baby drama?
Joel has set his sights on September for the big day, so we know they will soon be getting married. Additionally, we now know that Lauren is five months along with Joel’s unborn child, and her due date is probably in November.
Joel is fervent about getting married, but since this is soap opera land, is it possible that the truth about him will surface before they walk down the aisle? Might the two plot points collide, paving the way for some dramatic confrontations and Joel-related revelations?
‘Catalyst of events’
Dee-Dee actress Channique teased a “catalyst of events” as Joel’s lies finally unravel. Teasing what was ahead for Joel and Dee-Dee following the huge Lauren twists, actress Channique told us the truth would come out, and that Dee-Dee would see Joel’s “true colours”.
She told us: “All I can tease is that ultimately, what is in the dark always comes to light. We will get to the point where Dee-Dee starts to have an understanding of Joel’s true colours. I think the audience is dying for her to know the truth… so I think once the truth comes out, we are gonna see a catalyst of events start to unravel.”
Joel’s downfall
Actor Calum from Joel teased that the villain would do whatever it took to keep his sinister secrets hidden and “get rid” of any “obstacles” that might lead to their discovery. However, it appears that it won’t be sufficient as locals become wary and a collapse is probably imminent.
Calum said to us, “Desperate times, I believe, call for desperate measures.” Dee-Dee and marriage are what he desires. He is merely battling tooth and nail to overcome any barriers in his path.
“Who knows what he is gonna do to get rid of them.” He continued, “I don’t know what Joel’s limit is and we’re yet to discover what Joel’s limit is.” “I think there’s going to be a lot of detective work going on, detective Bethany and Dee-Dee,” joked Channique.
“I do believe that we will learn more about Joel and some of the crimes he has essentially committed over the next few weeks. The show’s characters, in my opinion, will be crucial in making that clear.”
“Joel is a very good liar,” she continued. Although he is excellent at it, I believe he is treading water. I believe that if Dee-Dee begins to notice the signs, his time is truly going to run out. The only person who can actually challenge him is that one.
“I find the dynamic between the person you love and the person you have the most control over to be pretty interesting. It will be interesting to observe when the tipping point is reached because I believe there are a lot of strong women who will resist him over time.”
