Coronation Street star Colson Smith returns to filming after Celebrity Big Brother stint

Celebrity Big Brother star Colson Smith has gone back to Manchester to reprise his role on Coronation Street.

The soap star has resumed filming as Craig Tinker on the ITV soap following his stint on Celebrity Big Brother, where he finished third behind runner-up Nikita Kuzmin and winner David Potts.

The actor took to his Instagram Stories to share some set photos, and recorded a message for Corrie fans on the soap’s account today (March 25).

“Hello everyone, it’s Colson and I am back on the cobbles today after three weeks away in the Big Brother house,” Smith, who was wearing his character’s police uniform, said.

He thanked fans for their support during his time in the Big Brother house, adding: “I’ve absolutely loved my time as a housemate, but I’m so buzzing to be back playing Craig Tinker on the streets of Weatherfield because someone has got to keep them safe, and that’s me.”

“Literally straight out the house, slept in London, had the wrap party, into a car, script straight in front of me, ready to get back on the beat,” he said.

“But today I only have one line. So you know, I can’t complain today, they are easing me back in Weatherfield. The line is, ‘How old are you?’. It’s taken me all weekend as well.”

“They’ve been so supportive and I’m so lucky that I have such a great group of people here,” he said.

“I’m excited to get back in the green room with everyone today and listen to what they thought, find out what they enjoyed in the show and share stories of my time in the house,” he continued, adding: “I’m 100% going to watch it all.”

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
