Coronation Street teases new love interest for Adam Barlow – and she’s close to home

Sparks are due to fly in the cobbles as Coronation Street bosses have confirmed a new love interest for single hunk Adam Barlow.

The solicitor portrayed by Sam Robertson continues to reel from his explosive split from wife Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien). But next week, his feelings for established character Alya Nazir (Sair Khan) are due to become apparent as they row over her future at the solicitor’s firm.

It all begins when Adam meets up with new client Rebecca at the Chariot Square Hotel – a new guest in the Manchester-based drama played by Hollyoaks actress Gemma Merna. The pair hit it off and flirt before Alya calls to warn him he is needed back in the office for a meeting – but he ignores her concerns and hangs up.

Adam and Sarah

Adam has been single since his split from wife Sarah Platt and he’s finally giving up trying to fix their marriage

Alya receives praise later on after leading the meeting with Rich from the Fabian’s firm and she learns of her potential to become a partner in the future – just as Adam throws the office door open to reveal him in the middle of a steamy snog with Rebecca.

In other scenes, Alya accepts Rich’s job offer but Adam is later mortified when his biggest client informs him they will be transferring their work to Fabian’s.

The solicitor is livid to realise Alya is poaching his firm’s business and another furious showdown ensues when Michael Bailey (Ryan Russell) lets her know Adam is telling everybody she has taken her job back. But following the altercation, a smitten Adam looks at a fuming Alya with hearts in his eyes.

But while Adam could move on to a new romance, his ex-wife Sarah finds comfort in an old flame following her breakup with Weatherfield gangster Damon Hay (Ciarán Griffiths). The couple rushed into moving in together in Sarah’s Redbank Apartment but as the thug couldn’t leave his life of crime, they had to call it quits.

Damon was sentenced to six years behind bars as he was forced to take part in an armed robbery by his half-brother, Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor), leaving Sarah devastated and vulnerable.

In upcoming scenes, Sarah seems keen to rekindle her relationship with former boyfriend Gary Windass (Mikey North), despite her desire for a drama-free life. The romance will be revisited when the builder invites her into his flat as they both encounter a tough time.
