Coronation Street star Alan Halsall has made a cheeky joke about his single status after breaking up with his former soap co-star Tisha Merry.

The actor, known for his role as Tyrone Dobbs in the ITV soap, met Tisha, who played Steph Britton on the cobbles between 2013 to 2018, on set and they began dating shortly after she left the show. They announced their separation in February after a five-year relationship.

Three months post-breakup, Alan shared a humorous moment on Instagram which led him to make a dig at single life, and suggesting he might be using dating apps to find a new partner. On Sunday, May 26, the 41-year-old actor shared the funny moment a playful dog attempted to mount him.

He posted a picture of the dog, captioning it with a face-in-hand emoji: “Apparently we’re not best friends. Most action I’ve had in a while ffs fml.”

He later shared another photo with the dog, suggesting it could be his “New Tinder profile picture”, hinting at a possible return to the dating scene, reports the Mirror.

Alan, who has played the Weatherfield mechanic in Corrie for two decades, was previously married to Hollyoaks star Lucy-Jo Hudson from 2009 to 2018. He also shares his daughter Sienna-Rae with her.

Before his recent separation from Tisha, Alan had to withdraw from I’m A Celebrity due to a massive knee injury which necessitated an extensive reconstruction process. Alan shared on Instagram, complete with an image of him in recovery: “ACL Reconstruction surgery. Well, On Friday I underwent ACL reconstruction surgery. I have been told the surgery went really well”.

He added: “I know I have a long 9-12 months of rehabilitation ahead of me but I’m sure with the support of family and friends I’ll get there”
