Coronation Street‘s Catherine Tyldesley has been forced to pull out of her new play on its opening night in Woking.
The actor, who played Eva Price in the ITV soap between 2011 and 2018, is currently playing Blanche Barrow in the UK and Ireland tour of Bonnie & Clyde.
But as the production arrived in the town this week, Tyldesley broke the news on her social media that a last minute illness meant she was unable to perform in the first show at the venue last night (April 23).
On her Instagram story, she wrote: “Due to a visually impaired migraine striking moments before curtain up, I am gutted to not be performing tonight. But rest assures the incredible [Oonagh Cox] will be absolutely brilliant as Blanche.”
She added: “Heartbroken to not be doing opening night here in Woking but it’s never about watching me bump into things/people on stage. Off to rest! Enjoy the show folks.”.
A representative for Tyldesley has confirmed to Digital Spy that she is set to be back onstage later this week.
After the show was a smash-hit on the West End, the tour started in February and is set to run until October, visiting venues all over the UK and Ireland.
Tyldesley will play Blanche until May, then, after a break, will resume the role in September.
