Corrie star Jack P Shepherd’s young son appears to be following in his famous dad’s footsteps.
The soap star’s lad, Reuben, 10, has joined rival soap Hollyoaks. Reuben will be playing Curtis, the song of Grace Black, in the Channel 4 soap. According to reports viewers should expect to see him on screen from September 30.
He has already been filming scenes in Liverpool and is set to break into the soap industry at a similar age to his dad, who started playing David Platt when he was 12.
A source told The Sun: “Reuben is a chip off the old block. He’s already impressing on set and his talent is shining through. “He’s got a bright future ahead of him.”
Jack shares Reuben with his ex-fiancée Lauren Shippey and they also have a daughter Nyla together. The pair parted ways back in 2017.
The former couple also founded the 13 Performing Arts School in Greater Manchester, which Reuben has attended over the years. He made his first big break with an advert five years ago for a Yorkshire furniture film HSL.
Jack, 36, announced his proposal to long-term girlfriend Hanni Treweek recently, after he popped the question on their latest vacation to a safari in Tanzania. The pair got to know one another due to Hanni working in Corrie’s publicity department.
Reuben will be joining Hollyoaks which is set to have a scorcher of a summer. The soap is set to keep viewers gripped with chaotic storylines.
TV figures appeared to be on the up this year, as at the start of July they were up 21% year on year, and the number of a younger demographic of viewers aged between 16-34 had risen by 8%.
The long-running soap is now being led by executive producer Hannah Cheers, who is preparing to shake up the show’s schedule later in the year. From September time, it will move to just three episodes a week and jump forward a year.
