Coronation Street’s Peter Ash prompts fan response as he calls co-star ‘weirdo’ in behind-the-scenes snap

Coronation Street star Peter Ash and his co-star Jane Hazlegrove caught each other out as they were seen between filming on the show’s set. The pair are currently part of a hard-hitting storyline in the ITV soap which is showing Peter’s character Paul Foreman slowly losing his life to Motor Neurone Disease.

Peter continues to be praised for his portrayal of Paul as the character’s health deteriorates as a result of being diagnosed with the rare condition affecting the brain and nerves. Paul was told of the life-shortening disease, in which messages from the motor neurones gradually stop reaching the muscles, last April with there currently being no cure.

During the latest trip to the cobbles, Paul was seen in hospital to have a feeding tube fitted as his ability to swallow worsened. His mum Bernie Winter, played by Jane, however, missed the surgery as she was confronted with the realisation that new police officer Kit was in fact her long-lost son, Christopher Green.

Despite the complexities of the storyline and often emotionally draining scenes, it appears the close knit of actors are still able to have a laugh on set, as Peter’s latest social media post appeared to prove.

The soap star took to Instagram and shared two snaps side-by-side. In one, he could be seen perched on a kerb with his phone in his hand, pulling a face behind the camera as he seemingly took a photo. And the second picture showed Jane doing the same thing but from across the street, outside the famous Roy’s Rolls.

Captioning the post, Peter wrote: “Pair of weirdo’s [crying laughing emoji]. The lovely @jane_hazlegrove #Corrie #CoronationStreet #ITV #Apollo #Bernie.”

Jane was quick to respond to the post, writing: “I see you @peterash_85! Love you kiddo.. Mama Chaka!!” before Corrie fans also rushed to leave a comment.

@mills_nicola said: “Aww we love you two!!! You are doing an amazing job with the storyline. A family friend recently died from MND .it’s a cruel Disease. Your portrayal is just incredible and so respectfully and sympathetically done. You are all doing such a wonderful job.” @miche11e_hill replied: “Great picture of a pair of minx’s I’m sure when on set.”
