Coronation Street star Sair Khan did confuse some as she shared an update on her home transformation just weeks after the arrival of her first child. The actress welcomed a baby boy into the world last month with her long-term partner Nathan Chilton.
Sair, who is known for playing Alya Nazir in the ITV soap, admitted she was feeling ‘a real mix of emotions’ when she announced she was pregnant back in December. She kept much of her pregnancy out of the spotlight and as her exit scenes aired on-screen in Corrie, the new mum confirmed her son’s arrival.
Sharing a trio of professional birth photos of her new arrival and her partner holding their bundle of joy, Sair wrote a lengthy caption detailing the birth and her experiences of motherhood so far. She said: “He’s here! …Our little boy is just marvellous. Very serious and curious about the world. He’s super strong and so resilient for joining me on the absolute rollercoaster that was our 22 hours of labour. We didn’t quite get the birth I’d hoped for but that’s okay (two birth pools, no water birth)”.
The 36-year-old went on to describe the labour experience as ‘raw and primal’, adding: “I’m glad I kept an open heart and no expectations because my gosh I had NO IDEA what a ride I was in for. And since then we’ve been non stop trying to figure out latches and vomit and tears all while dealing with sleep deprivation and the small issue of trying to heal my own body too. Massive respect to all the new Mama’s and Dad’s trying to get through those first few days and weeks.”
Sair added: “I’m so unbelievably grateful for our healthy baby, for Nathan and the for the incredible support network around us for their patience, generosity and late night voice notes that have kept me going. Anyone else ever felt like there’s a DJ beat coming from your breast pump at 3am or is that what delirium is?!”
But away from being in her new mum bubble, Sair has offered an update on her home renovations after asking fans to wish her and Nathan ‘luck’ after purchasing the doer-upper property while she was pregnant.
She said at the time as she was seen in the garden with the home’s official ‘sold’ sign: “We’re about to take on the biggest project of our lives. And also a teeny little house renovation before the baby arrives! What we thought was as a DIY job has definitely evolved into something much more. Let’s see how we can turn crumbling walls and damp into our new family home (all in the next two months!).” Now, taking to Instagram over the weekend, Sair revealed the first room of the renovated home but did confuse some as she appeared pregnant in the snap, seemingly confirming the gorgeous new kitchen was complete before her little one’s arrival.
Posing alongside Nathan as well as sharing a picture of the completed space, Sair said: “The kitchen is a special place for a lot of us– it’s truly the heart of our new home. Along with the open plan layout on our ground floor, it’s where we’ll gather and connect as a family. And with the arrival of our new baby, I can already envision countless moments shared here.
“There’s something incredibly exciting about knowing that the space we’ve carefully designed together will soon become the backdrop for our daily lives. It’s not just about functionality or aesthetics; it’s about creating a warm, inviting environment where we can create memories, share meals, and simply enjoy each other’s company. I can’t wait for us to settle into our lovingly crafted home and begin this new chapter of our lives together. @geminiworktops, #geminiworktops, #geminiquartz AD.”
Among the first to respond was @at_home_with_the_leightons who said: “Is the baby ever coming haha. Feels like you have been pregnant forever.” But upon realising added: “Okay the baby came [crying laughing emojis] Congratulations,” to which Sair replied: “The baby came less than two days after this photo!
