Coronation Street viewers have finally met DS Lisa Swain’s daughter, who is a familiar face to many.
The character of Betsy is portrayed by actress Sydney Martin, a recent drama school graduate.
In Friday’s episode (June 28) of the ITV soap, the audience was kept on tenterhooks as DS Swain went to a park to meet her daughter.
The two immediately had a disagreement, with Swain insisting that her teenage daughter get in the car to go home. This major revelation will surprise viewers, as the young character actually made her first appearance earlier this week in a dramatic scene.

Betsy is close friends with Sabrina Adetiba (played by Luana Santos), who is being targeted by sinister solicitor Joel Deering (portrayed by Calum Lill). Betsy, now known to viewers, quickly identified Joel as a creep and advised her friend to steer clear.
She took his business card and pretended to throw it away, but she actually kept it. Later, Betsy confronted Joel and tried to blackmail him. She warned him that she has a “big gob” and threatened to expose his creepy behaviour.
Viewers will have to stay tuned to find out
why DS Swain’s relationship with her mother is so strained and whether Betsy plays a role in revealing Joel as Lauren Bolton’s (played by Cait Fitton) attacker.
This is Sydney’s first television role, but she is no stranger to being in front of the camera. Her Instagram account, which currently has 1,588 followers, features photos from luxurious trips abroad and sweet family moments.
In a stunning snapshot, the latest addition to the Corrie cast, blonde bombshell Sydney, is captured looking radiant in a bright yellow dress at her graduation ball last summer. With a glass raised towards the camera, Sydney’s beaming smile says it all.
Before joining the cobbles of Coronation Street, Sydney graced the stage in various productions and starred in a feature film titled ‘Assassins Guild’. She’s also chums with Hollyoaks’ fresh face Isabelle Smith, who currently portrays Frankie Osbourne on the Channel 4 drama.
