Coronation Street’s Ken Barlow could potentially be in for a surprising new romance with another resident on the cobbles.
As the longest-residing actor in the soap opera, William Roache has been part of various significant storylines.
His character Ken, who is no stranger to matrimony, having married thrice to four women and fathering four children, also had his fair share of affairs.
Now, however, it appears that fans have guessed who Ken might next be romantically involved with – and their reactions are less than enthusiastic.
He had a severe fall which necessitated a carer for treating his injuries. The expense of hiring a professional for this purpose was beyond what the Barlow family could handle.
Subsequently, they roped in Cassie Plummer (portrayed by Claire Sweeney) despite her absence of formal credentials. Nonetheless, she did reveal that she had previous experience caring for an ex-partner, reports the Daily Star
Initially, there were some differences between the two – however, last week saw Ken and Cassie engage in a meaningful conversation that seemed to transform Ken’s perspective. Even with Cassie’s unprofessional status, Ken declared he had no objections about her caring for him and resolved to subsidise her salary himself.
Presently, whilst Cassie immerses herself wholly in taking care of Ken, viewers are speculating that a love affair will soon bloom between them. One viewer mentioned on X, previously known as Twitter: “I think there is going to be a “Nurse Nightingale Syndrome” storyline for Ken and Cassie.”

Meanwhile, on a Corrie forum, another fan mused: “I’m kinda enjoying Cassie around ken and Steve but is a love triangle going to form as Ken is a lothario.”
However, not all viewers were as enthusiastic about the potential pairing. One fan declared: “If Cassie and Ken do become a thing I’m not watching.”
