When it comes to the most dangerous soap in the land, one has come out on top, according to new research.
Spin Genie, who conducted the analysis, concluded that the E4 soap had seen 147 murders and manslaughter cases since its debut back 1995. The drama has had almost 70 different killers across the decades.
When it comes to their most prolific serial killer, it was Silas Blissett, who was played by Jeff Rawle, who racked up 17 kills on the programme. Although, it’s believed that Silas had actually taken the lives of up to 100 women.
EastEnders’ Albert Square would also be a place to avoid after dark, with the BBC One drama ranking second with their own murder count. According to research, residents have witnessed a total of 44 murders and manslaughter cases throughout its 39 year reign.
The maths discovered that the programme however was only averaging one murder or manslaughter case every 155 episodes. Emmerdale, on the other hand, didn’t fare much better taking third place, with the ITV soap having seen 38 kills to date.
Last on the chart was Coronation Street, with the cobbles being the safest place in soap-land. Their average was 32 murders and manslaughters.
Looking back over the decades, the soaps have certainly been graced with some of the nastiest and most savage murderers of all time. One of which in more recent times was Emmerdale’s Meena Jutla.
The nurse quickly became known to all as Mad Meena when she waltzed into the village in 2020. It was evident from her very first scene that she was going to cause a lot of trouble as she began flirting with Billy Fletcher.
