Ella Forster’s bombshell secret has finally been exposed on Emmerdale – and it’s finally shed light on her connection to Meena Jutla.
Over the past week, loyal fans of the ITV soap have been on tenterhooks, suspecting that Ella, portrayed by Paula Lane, had a close bond with Manpreet Sharma’s sister. The chilling serial killer, brought to life by Paige Sandhu, was a notorious killer who terrorised the Dales until she was eventually caught and sent to prison.
Some believed Ella and Manpreet had bumped into each other when they were in jail together. Meanwhile others were convinced that Ella and Meena were childhood friends after a newspaper clipping of the killer was found in Ella’s bag, reports the Mirror. But on Friday (May 31), Ella’s past misdeeds came to life and her connection to Meena was explained. As she confessed all to her hunky doctor boyfriend, she explained her connection to the Phillips family.
She confessed: “I did something terrible and I went to prison for a long time. But after many years, these incredibly clever people – these psychology people, prison people – they had meetings about how I was doing and when I should be released.
“I got knocked back twice because of my attitude and they transferred me to the women’s prison. And eventually these experts decided that I was no risk to the public, no more than you or anyone else.
“And when it gets terrible like now, and when it gets out what I did and I have to leave again, I cling to the fact those people put their faith in me and believed in me. They were right.
“The most violent thing since I was released six years ago was pouring a pint over that guy’s head,” she reassured him. It was at this point that the village residents stumbled upon an article detailing Ella’s real identity as Ruth Davies.
It revealed a chilling tale of how an 11-year-old Ruth delivered a “jealous frenzied attack” on her friend Joanne, who was also 11 at the time. Ella’s detailed history has put to rest any speculations about sharing a cell with Meena.
Given that Meena was imprisoned in 2022 and Ella completed her sentence five years earlier in 2019, it is impossible for their jail times to intersect. The root cause behind her fascination with Meena seems to hinge on the fact that Meena was responsible for the death of Liam’s daughter, Leanna.
As we know, Leanna was viciously murdered by Meena when she just 18 after she uncovered the truth about Meena’s role in the death of her young friend, Nadine. It seems that this is why Ella was interested and kept newspaper clippings about Meena – because she wanted to learn about what happened to Liam’s daughter.
