Emmerdale fans have been left gushing over a ‘Robron’ reunion after two of the ITV show’s stars teased a rekindling of their romance.
Ryan Hawley (who played Robert Sugden between 2014 and 2019) and Danny Miller (Aaron Dingle) were an item in the Dales and went on the run together after Robert killed Lee Posner for raping his sister, Victoria. Robert later handed himself into police, however, and was subsequently jailed for a minimum of 14 years without parole.
Speaking to Loose Women last month 33-year old Danny opened up on his hopes of Ryan returning to the soap, but cast dounts over whether it would be possible. “The Robron thing… I mean, for me, as an actor – financially more than anything, I’ll be honest – Ryan coming back as Robert would be great,” he admitted.
Danny continued: “But I know he’s got a young family himself, and he’s off doing other bits and bobs himself. Maybe one day we’ll be able to tempt him back, but not anything imminent, shall we say.”
Ryan tends to keep his life away from TV with his wife Daisy Prestes de Oliveira and their young son relatively private. Last year he joined the cast of the rebooted All Creatures Great and Small, meanwhile, starring as Sid Crabtree on Channel 5.
Now, however, he has set tongues wagging over a potential Emmerdale reprise, as he took to Instagram to tease his 5,000 followers. The actor shared a snap of himself with his feet up in a TV dressing room, which he captioned: “Coming soon.”
Danny was quick to respond in the comments section, quipping: “Do you request awful shoes in every contract?” It prompted Ryan to add: “And partners,” followed by a kiss-blowing emoji. Spotting the pair’s interaction, Emmerdale fans couldn’t hide their excitement at the prospect of a reunion.
“You two are just the best… there has never been 2 actors who have great on and off screen chemistry like u two.. your fandom will always be here for you both.” Another hailed: “Robron content in 2024. I’m going feral.”
