Emmerdale fans have feared for one character after “working out” what Ella is hiding.

Ella, played by former Coronation Street star Paula Lane, made her first appearance in the Dales earlier this year. She befriended Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) and landed a job as a receptionist at the GP surgery.

Since making her stay in the village permanent, Ella has been growing closer to Liam Cavanagh (Johnny McPherson) and during Thursday’s episode (March 21), the duo shared their first kiss. But moments later, Ella jumped away from Liam as Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton) came outside.

Kerry joked that Ella’s reaction was because Liam is a bad kisser, however, viewers have other ideas. A number of fans believe Ella is harbouring a dark secret and have voiced their fears for Liam.

Sharing their thoughts online, one wrote: ” Ella obviously going to go crazy and obsessive with Liam. Cain made a comment don’t date her ‘unless she is a psycho’. Soaps writers use foreshadowing. Liam has a reputation and unfortunately Ella will use to get advantage. She is going to make Liam miserable.”

Another agreed: “That means Ella win turn out to be a psycho then! #Emmerdale”. A third weighed in: “Why do I get the feeling Ella has killed her husband or something… #emmerdale.”

A fourth asked: “So what’s Ella’s dark secret #Emmerdale”. Others believe she is somehow linked to serial killer Meena Jutla (Paige Sandhu), who murdered Liam’s daughter before she was sentenced to life in prison in 2022.

One speculated: “Ella has definitely got a dodgy past. Either she has killed someone or hooked up with someone older for their money. Her reaction when someone suggested that she might find a man who is ill and loaded suggested it’s happened before. Or in prison with Meena.”

Echoing this, another penned: “I have a feeling that the receptionist knows Meena!” Meanwhile someone else agreed: “So I have this theory that Ella has some link to psycho Queen Meena. A deranged fan perhaps, after she met her in prison, and now the Docs receptionist is out to quietly wreck Manpreet, Liam and Dawn’s lives – she’s already got close to them.”
