An Emmerdale star has been given the boot for gross misconduct on the popular ITV soap.
During Friday’s episode (April 19) Victoria Sugden found herself jobless after a mishap in the kitchen. Following her break up with Jacob Gallagher, she was visibly struggling and ended up shattering a glass while making a pizza.
Despite thinking she had cleaned up all the shards, Jai Sharma discovered a piece under the pepperoni – which he had sneakily placed there – leading him to fire Victoria. When Victoria attempted to argue her case, Jai insisted she leave but offered two months’ salary and a reference for her future employer.
He was under pressure to dismiss her or face Pollard revealing his theft of his brother’s inheritance. This dramatic turn of events follows Victoria’s difficult decision to end things with Jacob.

Her decision was spurred by his mother Leyla’s stern warning that she was holding him back. Jacob had previously turned down a study opportunity in Berlin to stay with Victoria. Feeling obligated, Victoria broke off their relationship to allow Jacob to pursue his own path.
Her choice left him heartbroken, begging her to reconsider, reports the Mirror. The past few months have seen a whirlwind of emotions for Jacob and Victoria, who kept their budding romance a secret for quite some time due to concerns about David’s reaction, as he had previously been involved with her.
Upon discovering the romantic relationship between Victoria and his son, David was taken aback and found accepting this new reality tough. Once their relationship went public, Jacob’s dad, David Metcalfe – played by Matthew Wolfenden – made up his mind to leave the village once and for all.
This decision coincided with Matthew’s real-life decision to exit the popular ITV soap. Joe-Warren Plant, who portrays the role of Jacob, expressed, “I’m gutted! I’ve learnt everything from him. I had no previous acting experience, so everything came directly from Matthew. It’s sad, but we’ll keep in touch – he’s my best friend! “.
