In a recent interview, Emmerdale actress Paula Lane opened up about her son’s exciting new film role alongside Matt Smith. The film, titled “Star of Acre,” is a horror story about archaeologist Richard Smith, his wife, and their son, Owen, who become entangled with a dark force haunting their home.
Paula, who plays Ella Forster on ITV’s Emmerdale, shared that her son, Arthur Shaw, has landed a role in the film. Paula and her husband Tom Shaw, who have been together since 2014, welcomed Arthur a year later. Paula expressed their excitement about Arthur’s role, noting that acting runs in the family. Tom has been acting since he was 17, which has been a significant part of their life.
Two years ago, Paula and Tom heard about an open casting call for a young Yorkshire boy, aged 5 to 7. Paula mentioned that the casting call was widely known, so they decided to give Arthur a chance. His natural talent and enthusiasm for performance led to multiple callbacks, eventually securing him the role. The news was a delightful shock for the family.
Despite their excitement, Paula and Tom were initially concerned about the pressure on Arthur. They wanted to ensure that he was comfortable and willing to pursue acting on his own terms. Paula emphasized that they are letting Arthur make his own decisions about his acting future and are simply supporting him along the way.
Blessed with a calm demeanor and a passion for acting, Arthur seems to be handling the experience well. Paula and Tom are committed to allowing him to explore his interests without undue pressure.
