Emmerdale viewers were in fits as Kerry Wyatt prayed for a miracle… to Cher.
Tuesday night’s instalment (April 16) of the ITV soap opened with Kerry (Laura Norton) kneeling in front of a lit candle and a framed picture as she prayed for the money to cover Amy and Matty’s wedding. It looked as if she was praying to God or perhaps Mary.
But as the camera panned out, viewers could see she was actually praying to the Believe singer. Staring up at the picture with her hands clasped, she said: “Hey, me again. I know you probably think I only pray to you when I want something but I am in a right bind this time and I really really really need your help.”
A stunning blue necklace could be seen on the table in front of Kerry’s little shrine, and she explained she had big hopes for it. “Amy and Matty deserve the best wedding ever so could you please just make sure this necklace is worth an absolute mint so that I can pay for it all,” she pleaded. “Thank you.”

Kerry is a fan of the chart star, and spent time impersonating her on a cruise ship. But some viewers thought she might be taking it a bit far.
One viewer asked why Kerry was praying to the singer, pointing out: “She’s not even dead yet.” “Kerry praying to Cher,” posted someone else, adding a crying with laughter emoji to show their thoughts.
One amused viewer shared a GIF of the actor Adrian Dunbar in character as Line Of Duty’s Superintendent Ted Hastings, looked disgusted and muttering: “Mother of God.”
