Chas Dingle sees her scars from double mastectomy for the first time next week.
The Emmerdale favourite, played by Lucy Pargeter, wears prostheses to the Woolpack for the first time after receiving solidarity from supportive women.
Determined for normality, Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) assures her she doesn’t need them but Kerry Wyatt’s (Laura Norton) insensitive comments unleashes Chas’ fury as she refuses to be defined by breasts.
Later, as Chas reflects on not being brave enough to face her surgery scars, Charity agrees to look with her and she bravely lifts her top, facing her new reality head-on.
Dr Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) noticed a lump in Chas’ breast after they slept together and urged her to make an immediate appointment with her GP.
Chas later received a call confirming her hospital appointment and asked Liam to accompany her, leaving him thrilled. During the appointment, Chas received the difficult news that she has triple negative cancer.
The pun lady later urged the men in her family to go through tests for their own safety and her son Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) received terrible news. But when it came to telling his mother about it, looking at her broken and in pain following her double mastectomy, and not being ready to face it himself, Aaron choked and told her he’s fine.
Taking matters into her own hands, Chas asked Aaron directly about his outcome of the gene test. Unfortunately for him, his usual a tiny flicker in his eyes tolf Chas all she needed to know. Unable to temper his emotions, he was flooded with anger and denial.
