Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) has finally realised Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson)

is a bit of a rat bag in Emmerdale with his inability to hold himself accountable for

anything and his penchant for destroying everyone around him.

She takes action, but he responds in kind.

Laurel is still recovering from her serious health scare of a heart attack but she is adamant she can no longer be with conniving, vindictive Jai.

His failure to come clean to Suni was the icing on the cake for an already strung-out Laurel.

Laurel tries to take a stand

So, for her there’s no use beating about the bush – she tells Jai it’s time to start planning their script to tell the kids they’re divorcing.

Jai is left apoplectic at this and is aghast at Laurel’s resolute disposition.

Of course, Jai not getting his way is not something he’s used to.

Together they break the news of the divorce to the children, after which Laurel – ready for her fresh start and to begin washing that man out of her hair – demands Jai leave and move back to Holdgate.

This goes down like a fart in a lift as bitter Jai reacts by telling her that that if she makes him leave, he’s taking Archie with him, leaving Laurel crushed.

Will his blackmail make Laurel reconsider?
