Bree takes Nelson to the Diner. Nelson makes John’s day by offering him a drive-in spot on camera for the Sunrise crew the next day. Then, away from the prying eyes of her neighbours, he takes Bree to his motorcycle and questions whether she’s game to go for a ride.
It’s a big deal for Bree after her break-up with Remi, but she accepts. Soon Nelson has whisked her away to the palatial mansion he’s staying in with Stevie. He offers her a drink, but Bree has something better in mind as she draws him into a kiss.
Meanwhile, Mackenzie can’t help but be hurt after Levi’s offer of a “circuit breaker” for them as a couple. When they talk, Levi says he’s not having second thoughts, but this isn’t the future either of them imagined. Mackenzie is shattered, even after Levi reiterates that he doesn’t want them to split up.
It’s John Palmer who bolsters Mac when she snaps at him later, fearing his judgement. He tells her that, after everything she’s been through, she deserves to be happy. John gets a free coffee for his efforts, and Mackenzie returns to Levi with her feelings clear – all that matters is that they love each other, and that’s all she cares about.
Elsewhere, Mali and Kirby hash out the finer details of their new arrangement – if Kirby can take his surf lessons, he’ll have more time to keep up with the influx of orders he’s had since Stevie Marlow posted about the board shop. Being outdoors sounds good to Kirby, but she bristles at the stack of paperwork Mali needs her to complete before she gets in the water, and he snaps at her when she passes judgement on Levi and Mac.
