Matt Evans, who plays Theo on the Aussie soap, urged his followers to “be safe out there”, after he was caught up in a horrifying riptide that left him with a slew of injuries
Home and Away icon Matt Evans has said he is “a very lucky guy” after suffering a terrifying ordeal while surfing.
Evans, who plays bad boy Theo Poulos on the Aussie soap, which airs in the UK on Channel 5, shared his horrifying story on his social media. Fans of the soap star, 27, were shocked when they discovered how he had been thrown around the sea.
The actor was taking some well-deserved time off from the soap when he decided to go to the Bronte beach to catch a few waves. However, as he tried to go into a riptide, he mistimed the wave and ended up being caught in the
Retelling his story to his followers on his Instagram stories, Matt admitted he had been “slammed up against the rocks”. Following this, he sustained some pretty nasty injuries to his hands as he was flung off his board in the terrifying scenes.
But despite the injuries he sustained, Matt surprisingly looked well and only appeared to be shaken up following the incident. Sharing some snaps of his hands, he admitted that the injuries had been rather gnarly.
He also shared some pics of his journey following the riptide incident, with the first being just moments after he was taken from the water. Bearing a huge smile and gritting his teeth as he took off his wetsuit, Matt seemed in good spirits as he boasted the cuts to his hand.
Joking with family, friends and fans on his social media channel, he explained: “The sea was angry that day, my friend.” The caption had been written by Matt’s good pal, singer-songwriter Jaime Robbie Reyne.
A second image revealed that it was Anthony “Harries” Carroll but beloved Aussie beach show Bondi Rescue as the one who saved Evans from the water. In the snap, both lads could be seen together cracking a smile as they took a selfie in the aftermath of the chaos.
Evans even went as far as to share snaps of him in the emergency room at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney. Luckily, he was not on his own however as pal Jaime was with him as he had his cuts looked at by medical professionals.
