Home and Away fans may not know that one soap actor starred in Pirates of the Caribbean.
Mahesh Jadu appeared in Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales when he suffered an on-set injury that meant he was brutally cut from some scenes. Back in 2017, Jadu spoke to AAA Weekend about his Hollywood role.
He said: “I broke my nose on the Black Pearl with a sword, someone else’s sword in a big fight scene. It was purely a little boy’s dream, because I was around on set most of the time… to be in the same vicinity [as] Johnny Depp, Javier Bardem and Geoffrey Rush was incredible.”
The soap star’s role in the fifth POTC film was cut down due to the actor’s fracture, which led him to take two weeks off. He played one of the ghost soldiers in Captain Salazar’s gang.
Mahesh is an Australian actor and best known for his role as Dr Doug Harris in Neighbours, as well as Nelson Giles in Home and Away as well as Vilgefortz in The Witcher. He has starred in a number of films, including I, Frankenstein, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales and Three Summers.
Jadu reportedly started working as a composer for the Australian show Byte Me before moving into the world of acting with a small role in Sorry Bhai!, followed by his Neighbours stint. Another Home and Away cast member has a link to Hollywood after an old clip recently resurfaced online.
Chris Hemsworth has starred in many Marvel movies as the Norse god Thor but had his humble beginnings in the Aussie soap. He quickly became a fan favourite before moving on to conquer Hollywood, but an interview with former co-star Kate Ritchie brought him back to his roots.
